Our modern day Association was founded in 1892 by a group of celebrated Lincoln Ram breeders
The main aims of our Association today are much the same:
We are based at the Lincolnshire Showground where we hold our Annual General Meeting in April. Our council consists of 12 full members.
We organise social events and occasionally breed workshops. We produce a quarterly breed publication ‘Clippings’.
Association membership is open to anyone who wishes to breed or support Lincoln Longwools.
Being a member of the LLSBA community has led me to so many opportunities and exciting experiences. It’s been a fantastic journey with my fantastic sheep
We started our flock and became members with two ewes from the Greengate flock in 2009. Since joining we have had lots of help from other members and the Association. They are helpful if we have problems with paperwork when registering or sorting pedigrees
My daughter and I joined the LLSBA three years ago after purchasing our first pair of registered sheep. Since joining, the Society have been wonderful and welcoming, a never ending source of advice and support at anytime. A special Society with friendly and welcoming people..
We were brand new to owning sheep so being part of such a proactive and enthusiastic society has been invaluable. The help and advice from other members at shows, over the phone and through the facebook group makes you feel supported whatever the sheep decide to do. We have made new friends and learnt so much in our first 12 months supporting this important rare breed, next stop lambing…..
I kept a few unregistered Lincoln Longwools for a few years and finally decided to take the plunge and register to start breeding. I have been so supported by members of the association who are friendly and inclusive. With their support we hope to start showing next year!
